The Bioeconomy is one of the 5 Pillars, together with Energy, Mining, Knowledge Economy and Tourism, which, as generators of genuine foreign exchange and quality employment, we advocate from Plan País Argentina as vectors of growth and federal development.
As part of the prevailing misinformation, there is an attempt to install the myth that the bioeconomy (which, also due to ignorance, is still defined by the now obsolete term of agribusiness) does not generate jobs. However, 24% of all private employment comes from it: 3.7 million jobs.
In most provinces it is the highest, second only to public employment.
Of this, the maize chain alone generates 236,000 jobs, more than twice as many as the entire automotive industry: 96,000 jobs. And if we include the associated chains, those of animal proteins: bovine, poultry, milk, pork, ethanol, Gran Maíz accounts for 680,000: more than the sum of the 400,000 in construction and the 250,000 in metallurgy.
There is definitely a lack of information, isn't there?
There is no doubt that maize is a central player in our current and future bioeconomy, with multiple and complex bioproducts obtained from the application of knowledge to biomass that have generated new uses: from human and animal feed to the production of polymers for industries such as textiles, footwear and auto parts, as well as hundreds of intermediate products that are inputs for the food and beverage, personal hygiene, pharmaceutical, paper, adhesives, paints, porcelain, fuel and many other industries.
