Do you want to know everything about the meat production chain in Argentina?
Here we tell you a little about it 👇🏼
✅ In agri-food chains, the primary sector is the largest employment generator, accounting for 38% of the total, some 1,420,000 jobs:
- Of these, the meat and dairy chain is the second largest generator of employment in this link, with 29%.
The industrial link generates more than 830,000 jobs:
- Of these, value addition to the meat and dairy sector is the largest generator of employment, with 35%
72% of our country's exports come from the countryside and more than 38 billion dollars are earned from these agro-industrial sales:
- Of these, the beef export circuit alone generates more than 100,000 jobs.
- 9.5% of the country's export dollars come from the meat export chain.
Argentina's livestock production is sustainable:
- Livestock gas emissions are very low, accounting for only 0.15% of the global total.
- Our production is based on pastoral systems, with little or no use of agrochemicals and fertilisers.
- Argentinean cows graze on natural grasslands and pastures, resulting in a favourable balance between carbon sequestered and emitted, and allowing the conservation of organic matter and biodiversity in the ecosystem.
- All the water used for livestock production comes from rainfall and does not require a drinking water network.
- Argentina reduces the carbon footprint and improves the sustainability of livestock farming through the introduction of good practices, genetics, balanced nutrition, proper feeding and good grazing management.
In many Argentinian soils, raising cattle is the only viable productive alternative in areas with low quality forage resources, where it plays the role of digesting fibre that is not fit for human consumption. In other words, they convert vegetable proteins unfit for human consumption into available meat protein.
