Sick Argentina

Adjustment? Or the beginning of the cure? 

 Our beloved Argentina is very sick.
 
And so do we Argentines.

Hard to accept, but visible and concrete.

Our poverty rate is over 45 per cent. 6 out of 10 out of 10 of our children under 17 are poor. 1 in 3 of our children had to reduce their diet because of economic problems.

You can deny reality but you cannot deny the consequences of denying reality.

All this is happening in the country that could be the world's supermarket and one of the guarantors of global food security.

Not to mention mining, energy, the knowledge economy and tourism, which today generate a paltry amount of dollars and employment in relation to what they could generate to make each province prosperous and put an end to dependence, bargaining and tug-of-war over co-participation.

Our reality is the result of decades of intellectual rusticity, imperfection, waste and corruption.

The time has come to face the consequences of the unfortunate choices we, as a society, have made over the past decades.
 
The treatment of our illness, like any treatment for a serious illness, will be long and at times painful.
 
The good news, among so much bad news, is that we know that by doing the right things, the disease that afflicts us can be cured.
 
And it is not just an "adjustment", because "adjustment", while imperative and necessary, is merely a procedure that initiates treatment and helps to cope better with the disease, but does not cure it.

The much reviled and disqualified "adjustment" should be called "first treatments" and our aim should be "cure".
 
The cure that Argentines so desperately need is based on a strategy and a plan for federal and sustainable economic growth and development at the macro and micro levels that will last beyond any government in office.

A plan to "enlarge the cake", because you can't distribute what you don't have.

A Plan that all Argentines know, advocate and defend.
 
That is why in Plan País Argentina we are working not only on this Plan but also on its mass dissemination and awareness so that citizens know and set the agenda on the urgent need to talk about "purpose", "importance", "goals", "development", "federal", and to establish a long-term vision that, with measurable objectives, will allow us to design our future and walk together and with hope the path towards it.

It is necessary to arrive at principles of minimum consensus that allow us to legislate State Policies that not only deregulate but also strengthen and structure a programme that invites and guarantees investment, the creation and establishment of local and foreign enterprises and companies that generate employment, that integrate us into the world as major players and that allow us to lift half of our compatriots who live in poverty and destitution out of poverty.

And above all, that it should be ours, the Argentines', part of a new cultural and social pact so that, we reiterate, no government in power can change it again.  

 A Plan that will allow us to promote a new prosperous, thriving, inclusive and sustainable Federal Republican Argentina, which will put into action all the creative and productive potential that until now has been excluded and paralysed in our beloved country.

A Plan to be a lighthouse and guide our steps until we are cured.

It is up to us.
